Description

Our press plans will help you make your own lever-style press. You will be able to accurately measure your pressure and use any type and size of mold. With a little time and some simple woodworking, you will have a very convenient and easy to use cheese press.

Note: If you are unable to locate the metal bracket specified in the plans, our tech guy, Jim, recommends using a butt hinge with pin, mounted horizontal on the wall. You will be able to pull the pin to remove the weight bearing lever arm for storage.

Key detail missing.

If you have moderate woodworking skills you can make this or even get free designs online. I bought this to make it as simple as possible. It looks like it will be easy enough to build but because they left out the details of the bracket for the wall mount I am left to either search to try to find this or improvise a work around. I should have gotten the free designs online.

Works Great!

My boyfriend put this together in an hour and it works great! I just took my first Colby out of it. Made my first cheddar last week. It will take me 2 weeks to get enough goat milk to make a 4 gallon Parmesan but that is the goal....now to wait for it to age for at least 2 months......

Press Plans

Really wanted to work with a customer who built this press as a free standing one. Press will never be built as no one understands how to build it or make it free standing.

Simple, but just what's needed

I modified the design to make a free-standing unit and pressed my first cheddar yesterday with great success - far better than balancing heavy things on a wobbly mass of curds! In place of the metal bracket, I used two 90 degree brackets with 1/4" bolt holes and lined those up to take a 1/4" shoulder bolt as the hinge pin. Two nylon washers keep things moving smoothly.

It works!

With a minimal amount of effort my husband was able to build the press. He probably would have given it 5 stars if we had all the materials here in the workshop.
