Love this product and I am going to be ordering another one or two soon.
It works, but isn't the best method
Previously I'd been using a Chemex coffee filter in a plastic sieve to strain yogurt, which worked fine. I like that this strainer is re-usable, but it doesn't produce the same thickness of yogurt as the previous method. Also, the plastic gauze mesh is so delicate that I really worry about tearing it during washing. The main plus is that it holds a lot of whey, so you don't need to keep checking and emptying very often. Another good point is that the lip on the rim of the whey container helps keep the whey pour out more cleanly without dripping down the side.
This has been so much easier than my makeshift strainer and easier cleanup too. The right equipment makes a big difference!!
Field berry yogurt pops
I use a Euro Cuisine Electric yogurt maker to make the yogurt then put it in the Euro Cuisine strainer after it is chilled and let it strain about 12 hours. Then I mix 2 cups frozen field berries with 2 cups of the Greek yogurt 1/4 cup corn syrup and 1/4 cup honey and blend until smooth. the mix is placed in pop containers. Everyone loves them. I could not make these without Euro Cuisine equipment. Thanks Ann
Love the Greek Yogurt Strainer
The strainer mechanism is quite finely constructed, but durable within reason. It easily handled yogurt and ricotta straining; in fact, I returned some whey into the ricotta which was quite dry. A simple, finely tuned device I treasure.
